 John McGahernOne of our most famous sons, John McGahern, spent many of his childhood years in Ballinamore and based some of his world-famous novels in this area, particularly his book "Memoirs". Our guests can visit the many places referred to in his writings, such as his uncles garage in town. His mothers birthplace and gravesite as well as other places of interest are to be found in the surrounding area. The memorial seat dedicated to him following his death can be seen in Ballinamore.
